Job summary

KIPP North Carolina is seeking an EC Self-Contained Autism Teacher (K-5) to lead a structured classroom for students with autism, delivering specialized instruction aligned to IEPs in a supportive environment.

You will collaborate with SLPs, OTs, PTs, ABA specialists; maintain IEP documentation; and communicate with families. NC EC Certification and autism experience required; a $2,000 salary supplement is provided.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina EC Certification or ability to seek reciprocity.
• Experience working with students with autism, preferably in a self-contained setting.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area.
• Pass criminal background check.
• Commitment to closing the opportunity gap.

Responsibilities

• Provide SDI to K-5 students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Implement structured teaching approaches (e.g., TEACCH, visual schedules, structured work systems).
• Collaborate with related service providers (SLP, OT, PT, ABA) to embed communication systems and sensory supports.
• Maintain and update IEP documentation, including progress monitoring and annual reviews.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, general education staff, and administrators.
• Develop and implement student behavior intervention plans and crisis prevention strategies.
• Foster a classroom culture of predictability, safety, and mutual respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
