Job summary

KIPP North Carolina seeks an EC Self-Contained Autism Teacher to lead a highly structured classroom for K–5 students with autism. You will balance academic instruction with communication, independence, and social-emotional development.

Collaborate with speech, OT, PT, ABA specialists, and IEP teams to provide cohesive supports. A NC EC certification and a bachelor's in a relevant field are required, with a salary supplement offered.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina General Curriculum EC Certification or ability to seek reciprocity.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area.
• Experience working with students with autism in self-contained or special education settings.
• Knowledge of TEACCH, ABA principles, discrete trial training, social narratives, task analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) to K–5 students with autism in a self-contained classroom.
• Implement structured teaching approaches (e.g., TEACCH, structured schedules) to support engagement and independence.
• Utilize the general education curriculum and evidence-based practices to deliver instruction.
• Collaborate with related service providers to embed communication systems and sensory supports.
• Develop and implement student behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and crisis prevention strategies.
• Maintain accurate IEP documentation and communicate progress with families and staff.
• Build relationships with students, families, and staff to promote inclusion.
