Job summary

Norman Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students under teacher supervision. You will assist with instruction, supervise students in classrooms and during buses, and help prepare teaching materials.

Eligibility includes Tier 1 paraprofessional requirements; Tier 2 certification must be completed within 120 days of employment. A high school diploma or GED is required; CPR/First Aid training and ongoing professional development are needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Tier 1 paraprofessional requirements must be met.
• College hours preferred to assist meeting Tier 1 requirements.
• CPR and First Aid certification and Universal Precautions training required for Tier 2.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and activities for individuals or groups as assigned by the teacher.
• Supervise students in instructional settings, recess, assemblies, and other activities.
• Serve as main contact for substitute teachers.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials and teaching aids.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
