Job summary

Norwich Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraeducator STRIVE to support students on the Autism spectrum across multiple locations in Norwich, CT. You will assist the classroom teacher with instruction, behavior management, recordkeeping, and ensuring a safe, orderly learning environment.

Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree or 60 credits or pass the Parapro exam; experience with children is preferred. Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree, two years of college (60 credits) or Pass on Parapro Exam prior to employment
  • Experience working with children is preferred
  • Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teacher with instruction and behavior management
  • Recordkeeping and accommodation support per IEP
  • Accompany students on trips and during transitions
  • Assist with preparation of visual aids and technology use
  • Support development and construction of new instructional materials
  • Perform routine clerical duties as needed
  • Adhere to transportation procedures and safety requirements
