Job summary

Brooke County Schools seeks an Aide/Autism Mentor at Brooke Middle School, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with duties including classroom support, lunchroom monitoring, bus loading/unloading, and assisting students in movement and activities.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, pass the WV state competency test for teacher aides, and show two years of experience with autistic students or autism staff development; a food handler card may be required.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required with passing WV State Competency Test for teacher aides.
• Aptitude for working with students and teachers is required.
• Must have physical ability and stamina to perform essential functions.
• Prior experience with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Aide in lunchroom monitoring and cleanup when required.
• Assist students moving about the building and on/off school bus.
• Assist with bathroom facilities and other needs.
• Operate equipment as needed and supervise lunchroom activities with a Food Handler's Card.
• Supervise playground and indoor activities; cover in inclement weather.
• Prepare classroom activities and assist with instructional tasks.
• Ride and supervise the school bus when required.
• May assist handicapped students with various needs and safety procedures.
• Perform general clerical tasks and maintain positive work habits.
