Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an Aide/Autism Mentor to support students in a Marshall County school. The role involves bus duties, classroom assistance, implementing IEP-aligned activities, and providing specialized health care under nurse supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, WVDE Autism Mentor qualifications or willingness to obtain within two years, plus CPI/CPR and food handler certifications; prior experience with autism supports is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires WVDE-approved Autism Mentor qualifications or willingness to obtain within two years.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR/AED and first aid training are required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Ride the bus with students and assist with boarding, riding, and disembarking.
• Assist teacher with classroom instruction and with students with special needs.
• Provide health care procedures under supervision of a school nurse (e.g., catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding).
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation, including logs and Medicaid forms.
• Support students in various settings (library, art, music, gym, lunch, recess).
• Assist with transitions, supervision, and safety of students throughout the school day.
