Job summary

Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is seeking a part-time Information and Referral Specialist in Saint Paul, MN. The role focuses on answering inquiries about autism, providing guidance, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources and referrals.

The position operates in a hybrid setting with two in-person days weekly. Responsibilities include responding to phone, email, and webform inquiries, creating FAQs and templates, and maintaining client records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years in public service or waiver management roles such as case management, support planning, vocational rehabilitation, public health, or public policy required.
• Knowledge about autism, disability services, and public benefit programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent Mac computer skills with Microsoft applications and web-based meeting systems (Zoom, Teams).
• Fraud and Waste Prevention: not listed on LEIE or Minnesota Excluded Providers List.
• Adhere to data privacy and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide information about autism by responding to inquiries via phone and email.
• Resolve Helpline tickets within 48 business hours.
• Provide accurate, up-to-date information based on organization documents.
• Offer referrals using the Autism Source database and document referrals via email.
• Develop and maintain reference materials on autism and disability issues (FAQs, templates, website copy).
• Maintain accurate records for each client, including contact details and inquiry details.
• Communicate with clients and external stakeholders in a respectful, professional manner.
• Outreach to promote AuSM programs at Minnesota community events (some in-state travel).
• Collaborate with colleagues and support operational redundancy through cross-functional training.
• Document complaints about service providers to reduce harmful referrals while respecting privacy.
