Detroit Public Schools Community District is seeking an experienced ESE Supervisor for Autism Programs to coordinate and evaluate services within the district's autism initiatives. The role partners with district and community stakeholders to ensure educational programs meet students’ needs and align with district goals.

Qualifications

• Masters in Special Education or related field is required.
• Graduate credits in admin, curriculum, law/finance, relations, social work or supervision may be required.
• Michigan teaching certificate in ESE and a School Administrator Certificate are required.
• Satisfactory ESE supervisor approval from MI Department of Education.
• Minimum of five years teaching or school social work experience, at least three as a contract teacher/consultant in state-approved SPED program.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, supervision, evaluation, and in-service development.
• Experience or potential in administrative leadership preferred.
• Special qualifications related to autism instructional materials and equipment.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct coaching to teachers on best practices and research-based methods for ASD.
• Lead and support principals and staff to mainstream students with disabilities.
• Deliver professional development aligned with district goals and curriculum planning.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/district requirements and budget management.
• Participate in IEP/IEPT meetings as required.
• Coordinate with community agencies for extended-year programs.
• Monitor and align SPED services with district standards and assessments.
• Supervise staff and evaluate performance per district policies.
• Lead textbook and instructional materials selection for ASD programs.
• Collaborate with related services to implement ASD instructional models.

Formation

Master's degree in special education or related field

Graduate credit in School Administration and Organization

Graduate credit in Curriculum Development/Planning

Graduate credit in School Law and School Finance

Graduate credit in School Community Relations

Graduate credit in School Social Work and Supervision

Valid State of Michigan Teacher Certificate in ESE and/or related field

School Administrator Certificate

Exceptional Student Education Supervisor approval (MI Department of Education)

Five years teaching or five years school social work experience
