Job summary

Detroit Public Schools Community District seeks an Exceptional Student Education Supervisor for Autism Programs to coordinate comprehensive ASD services under ACT 18. You will lead, coach, and monitor district staff, ensuring high-quality educational experiences for students with autism and compliance with requirements.

You will collaborate with district leaders, parents, and community partners, oversee program development, and guide instructional strategies and assessments across ASD programs.

Qualifications

• Master's in Special Education or related field.
• Graduate coursework in administration, curriculum, law/finance.
• Michigan ESE teaching cert and School Admin cert.
• ESE Supervisor approval through MDOT? MDOE.
• Five years teaching or relevant experience, including contract teaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to teachers and paraprofessionals on best practices and research-based methods for ASD.
• Consult and lead principals and staff to mainstream students where appropriate.
• Lead professional development and align curriculum, instruction, and assessment with district goals.
• Ensure services comply with federal/state regulations and district policies.
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of instructional staff.
• Attend IEPT meetings as required.
• Coordinate with community agencies for extended-year programs for visually impaired students.
• Develop Individual Development Plans to improve staff performance.
• Monitor alignment of special education with curriculum standards and assessments.
• Supervise staff and manage data for ACT 18 ASD programs budget.
• Lead textbook and instructional materials selection for ASD programs.
• Coordinate transportation and placement for students with autism.
• Maintain Least Restrictive Environment considerations for students.
