Job summary

The Grosse Pointe Public School System is seeking an instructional specialist to support autism services district-wide and collaborate across multiple districts to implement evidence-based practices in preschool settings.

The role requires a Master’s degree and a Michigan teaching certificate with ASD endorsement (or equivalent) and at least three years of ASD experience. You will lead professional development and assist IEP teams, with PBIS and ACT 18 guidance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) or School Social Worker/ Speech Pathologist/ School Psychologist with extensive ASD experience required.
• Special Education or extensive experience working with students required.
• Minimum of three years' experience working with ASD programs required.
• START and PBIS training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with district to improve outcomes for students with autism by building capacity and implementing evidence-based practices across the Early Intervention/Preschool LRE continuum.
• Support transition of early intervention students into Part B.
• Assist evaluation and IEP teams with ASD eligibility and LRE determinations.
• Provide professional development to district staff on best practices and accommodations.
• Guide ASD center programs in ACT 18 entrance/exit criteria and procedures.
• Support development and implementation of Peer-to-Peer programs in preschool environments.
• Support PBIS development, classroom management plans, FBAs and BIPs.
