Job summary

Amergis Educational Staffing Connecticut is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher for a self-contained ASD classroom in Stamford, CT. The role focuses on implementing IEPs, adapting lessons, and using evidence-based interventions to promote student progress.

You will collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families, while monitoring progress and maintaining a safe, structured classroom. The position runs Monday–Friday with ASAP interviews.

Qualifications

• Active Connecticut Special Education Certification (#065 or #165).
• Candidates with a pending Connecticut teaching certificate may be considered.
• DSAP candidates are not eligible for consideration.
• Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students in an ASD self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education instruction in a self-contained elementary school classroom serving students with ASD.
• Develop and implement IEPs to support academic, behavioral, social, and communication goals.
• Adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs.
• Utilize evidence-based interventions and behavior management techniques.
• Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, administrators and families.
• Monitor, document, and communicate student progress toward IEP goals and behavioral outcomes.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom environment fostering growth and independence.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings and other school-based collaboration.
• Full-time, Monday through Friday school schedule.
• Interviews are being scheduled immediately for an ASAP placement.

Education

Connecticut Special Education Certification (#065 or #165)

Bachelor's degree preferred
