Job summary

Gersh Autism is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support classroom instruction for students aged 5-21 across our network of K-12 schools. You will assist the lead teacher across academic subjects and life skills, adapting methods to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities include implementing approved instructional strategies, maintaining a safe classroom, supporting lesson planning, documenting progress, and collaborating with speech, occupational and other therapists to support each student’s

Qualifications

• BS / BA Degree preferred.
• Teaching Assistant Skills Test (ATAS) preferred.
• Experience working with children on the autism spectrum preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in using approved methodologies when working with students with autism.
• Create an authentic learning environment by displaying student work and projects.
• Maintain a consistent and safe classroom environment.
• Support planning and delivering daily lessons and activities meeting individual and group needs.
• Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to support student goals.
• Maintain attendance records and assist with administrative tasks.

Education

BS / BA Degree preferred

Teaching Assistant Skills Test (ATAS) preferred
