Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test.
• Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA or equivalent to application. Official transcripts required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
• Must pass a basic skills test.
• Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
• Must pass a background check, including employee fingerprinting.
• CPI training must be obtained at the next available opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to autistic students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher(s).
• Correctly follow directions from the teacher by data collection, classroom rules, and directives.
• Take appropriate data on required forms to monitor student progress and maintain compliance.
• Provide support for physical/health needs of students as required.
• Assist teachers with clerical or instructional tasks and prepare materials.
• Supervise students to promote a safe, orderly learning climate.
• Assist in supervision of additional specialists as required.
• Adhere to Kennewick School District policies and attend regular attendance and punctuality.
