Job summary

Somerville Public Schools is hiring a Special Education AIM Paraprofessional for Winter Hill Community Innovation in Somerville, MA. This temporary role runs 9/21/26 through 12/18/26, with an 208-day schedule and a salary range per the collective bargaining agreement.

Starting date is immediate and the position reports to AIM Program Director. Responsibilities include instructional support, behavior guidance, and collaboration with staff to support student learning and development.

Qualifications

• Temporary position from 9/21/26 to 12/18/26.
• Paraprofessionals support teachers with instruction and classroom management.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction as directed by the teacher
• Develop an understanding of the curriculum
• Support classroom management and student behavior
• Provide small group or one-on-one instruction under direction of the classroom teacher
• Provide assistance and supervision of students during cafeteria time, recess and if needed, toileting
• Assist the classroom teacher with development of curriculum materials
• Help to create and maintain a safe learning environment
• Support students’ emotional regulation
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and success
• Additional duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor and in accordance with the SEU Collective Bargaining Agreement
