Job summary

May Institute in West Springfield, MA is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant/Instructor/Para to support classrooms for children and adolescents aged 3–21 with Autism and developmental disabilities. You will assist lead teachers, implement intervention strategies, and help students build communication, social, and daily living skills using ABA.

This full-time role requires a 40-hour work week, M-F, with a flexible start between 7am–8:10am and 8-hour shifts plus a 30-minute unpaid midday

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Current and valid U.S. driver’s license
• 40-hour work week, M-F, 8-hour days plus a 30-minute unpaid midday break. Year-round program.

Responsibilities

• Support lead teachers in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Assist students with personal care and behavioral interventions.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Use ABA strategies to promote communication, social skills, and independence.
• Document student progress and collaborate with families and a multidisciplinary team.
