Job summary

MICHAEL E. CAPUANO ECC in Somerville, MA is seeking a Full-Time Special Education Sub-Separate Paraprofessional to support the AIM program for students on the autism spectrum. The role involves 1:1 or small group instruction, behavior support, and collaboration with teachers and specialists.

The program serves pre-k through 8th grade with a team including BCBA, OT, SLP, and Counselor. Salary is per the Somerville Educators' Union contract; 208-day schedule with 183 days plus 25 additional days.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional supports students under teacher supervision.
• Experience or familiarity with special education settings helpful.
• Comfort working in a collaborative school team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Develop an understanding of the curriculum.
• Support classroom management and student behavior.
• Provide small group/individual instruction under teacher supervision.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and assist with supervision during meals and recess.
