Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in health care billing or authorization practices.
  • General knowledge of home care operations and third-party reimbursement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with ability to learn industry software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to staff and insurance representatives.
  • Run and utilize computer reports regularly.
  • Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information.
  • Provide updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization.
  • Ensure authorization is obtained and tracked for all patients whose insurance requires pre-authorization.
  • Ensure objectives are implemented and promote agency policies and procedures.
  • Document authorization requests clearly.
  • Participate in orientation and education of other employees in the Authorization department.
  • Notifies Supervisor of problems and helps provide solutions.
  • Completes ongoing education requirements and demonstrates ongoing competency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service delivery
  • Have experience with insurance authorizations, referrals, intake coordination, or related administrative functions
  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills
  • Be able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Work independently while collaborating with remote and clinic-based team members

This position plays a critical role in supporting our clients, families, and clinical teams while helping ensure efficient access to services.

  • Sound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimbursement
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applications
  • Solid organizational skills, thoroughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi-task while prioritizing effectively
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
