Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking a dedicated insurance authorization specialist to manage eligibility, verification, and pre-authorization for infusion, oncology, and Dance Center services. Under supervision, you will coordinate with billing and care teams to secure timely reimbursements and minimize denials.

The role requires at least 3 years of insurance authorization experience; Epic knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of progressive insurance authorization experience preferred.
• Epic experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Contacts insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements.
• Collaborates with care teams to ensure communication regarding commercial insurance issues.
• Obtains insurance authorization for changes in medication dose or treatment plan.
• Documents insurance discussions in Epic for up-to-date coordination.
• Minimizes denials and secures timely authorizations with Infusion, Pharmacy, and Nursing staff.
• Monitors and re-authorizes expiring authorizations ahead of appointments.
• Responds to patient and staff inquiries with professionalism.
