Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Specialist Solutions Architect for Aurora PostgreSQL in Arlington, VA.

You will serve as the technical authority for top customers, architect and migrate PostgreSQL workloads to Aurora and RDS for PostgreSQL, and operate with a deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals and AWS database services. Lead migrations, design scalable architectures, and publish technical guidance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technology domains (software, cloud, systems, security, networking, data).
• 3+ years in design/implementation/consulting for apps and infra.
• 10+ years IT development/consulting in software/Internet industries.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical advisor for key AWS customers running or migrating to Aurora PostgreSQL and RDS for PostgreSQL, providing hands-on architectural guidance from design through production operation.
• Guide customers on Aurora PostgreSQL best practices including performance, scaling, HA, monitoring and observability, patching, backup/recovery, security.
• Design and validate Aurora PostgreSQL architectures leveraging storage auto-scaling, read replicas, Global Database, HA/DR, Serverless.
• Partner with Aurora service team as voice of the customer, surface recurring pain points, advocate feature enhancements, participate in roadmap reviews.
• Engage with customer engineers in whiteboard sessions, architecture reviews, and technical deep dives, provide candid guidance and push back when needed.
• Develop and publish technical thought leadership content (blogs, reference architectures, white papers) to elevate PostgreSQL community on AWS.
• Advise customers on complex database migrations (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) to Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Present at events (AWS re:Invent, Summits, PostgreSQL conferences) and customer workshops.
• Stay current with PostgreSQL community developments and translate into actionable guidance for AWS customers.
