Job summary

The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor is seeking an Assistant State Auditor II to join a team auditing a range of programs. You will conduct fieldwork, interview auditees, and analyze records to identify risks and controls while preparing clear reports and recommendations.

Salary range is $75,000-$85,000 with benefits, flexible schedules, and extensive opportunities to impact state government accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting.
• 3 years of auditing/accounting or program evaluation experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and complete audits of diverse topics and programs as part of a team.
• Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand programs.
• Perform on-site fieldwork and interviews to assess program risks.
• Identify processes and controls to mitigate risks.
• Review source records, data, and documentation for analyses.
• Document findings and recommendations clearly.
