Job summary

Office of the State Auditor in North Carolina seeks a Staff Auditor II to join the Rapid Response Division, assisting with investigations and performance audits to strengthen accountability and transparency in state programs.

You will work in a team to plan audits, interview stakeholders, perform on-site fieldwork, and document findings and recommendations to improve program efficiency and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting
• 3 years of experience in auditing/accounting or program evaluation
• Strong auditing and accounting knowledge
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally

Responsibilities

• Plan and complete audits of diverse topics and programs
• Interview auditees, agency management, and legislators
• Conduct on-site fieldwork to identify risks and controls
• Document results, findings, and recommendations
