Job summary

KLR, a leading CPA and business advisory firm in New England, seeks a Supervisor on our Audit Team in Massachusetts. You will lead diversified audit engagements for for-profit and nonprofit clients, applying U.S.

GAAP/GAAS and firm methodology, coordinating planning, staffing, and budgeting. Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Accounting, CPA preferred, 4+ years public accounting, strong communication, willingness to travel to client sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s preferred.
  • CPA licensed or actively pursuing certification highly preferred.
  • 4+ years of recent public accounting experience; for-profit and nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and GAAS.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute diversified accounting and auditing engagements with an emphasis on for-profit and some nonprofit clients across designated industries.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and firm methodology to assess risk, design audit procedures, and resolve complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Participate in engagement planning, including risk assessment, staffing, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Review and evaluate workpapers, prepare financial statements, and related reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards and firm policies.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients, fostering strong relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, ensuring engagements are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the firm’s quality standards.
  • Exhibit and strengthen technical competencies, including emerging accounting standards, industry-specific reporting requirements, internal control frameworks, and audit technology tools.

As a Supervisor on our Audit Team, you will utilize your educational background as well as your organizational skills as you work closely with colleagues on a variety of assignments for clients of the Firm. Our audit engagements are in many industries including: manufacturing, distribution, technology, life sciences, retail, hospitality, real estate, healthcare and non-profit. We also audit 100+ EBPs, and to a lesser degree, perform due diligence, projection, AUP, and review engagements.

This is a full-time position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours, including some evenings and weekends, will be required during peak busy seasons.
