A well-established public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced (Senior) Audit Manager to join its real estate assurance practice. This individual will take a leadership role in managing high-profile engagements for a diverse client base that includes REITs, private equity real estate funds, developers, and property managers. The ideal candidate brings both technical audit expertise and a commercial mindset, with a strong background in real estate financial reporting, team leadership, and client advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage multiple complex audit and assurance engagements, overseeing all phases from planning to final reporting.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing advisory support on technical matters, industry trends, and operational challenges.
• Develop tailored audit strategies and execute risk-based procedures that align with clients’ business objectives and financial structures.
• Apply advanced understanding of real estate valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow, capitalization, and market comparison methods.
• Review workpapers, financial statements, and audit documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with professional standards, and timely delivery.
• Supervise and mentor audit professionals at various levels; provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to support their development.
• Monitor engagement economics including budgets, billing, collections, and profitability while maintaining high service quality.
• Conduct technical research and offer practical guidance on complex accounting issues related to real estate transactions and investment structures.
• Participate in business development activities such as prospecting, proposal development, and client onboarding within the real estate sector.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on internal initiatives to improve audit methodology, enhance client experience, and adopt new technologies.
• Contribute to recruiting, thought leadership, and brand-building initiatives that support the firm’s growth in the real estate space.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
• 5- 15 years of audit experience in public accounting with a focus on real estate clients and investment structures.
• Proven experience managing audit teams and complex client engagements.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS, and relevant real estate-specific accounting practices.
• Proficiency in reviewing financial statements, conducting valuations, and identifying accounting risks.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong client relationships.
• Experience with audit and accounting software; familiarity with cloud-based tools is a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor teams and contribute to strategic firm goals.
