Job Brief:
The Head of Real Estate will lead the strategy, execution, and management of Wahed’s residential real estate investments across the United States, United Kingdom, and Malaysia. This remote role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in residential real estate, fund management, portfolio management, and risk management to build and oversee a high-performing investment portfolio that will be crowdsourced on Wahed’s core platform.
Job Description:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive residential real estate investment strategy aligned with Wahed’s ethical and financial objectives.
  • Source, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities in residential real estate across the US, UK, and Malaysia.
  • Manage a portfolio of real estate assets across the US, UK, and Malaysia, employing strategies to optimize asset maintenance costs, improve cash flow yields, and build a capability that can scale to multiple properties in each jurisdiction
  • Manage portfolio and asset risk, ensuring robust risk assessment and mitigation strategies to protect investor capital.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including compliance, legal, and finance, to ensure Shariah-compliant and regulatory adherence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including developers, property managers, and financial institutions.
  • Be the main contact point and report into the Real Estate Investment Committee
  • Provide regular performance reports and strategic insights to the Investment Committee and senior leadership.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities in the global residential real estate sector.
Job Specification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 6-10 years of hands-on experience in residential real estate investment, with a proven track record of successful deals and portfolio management.
  • CFA charterholder or CAIA designation is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in fund management, portfolio management, and risk management within real estate or related investment fields.
  • Deep understanding of residential real estate markets in at least one of: the US, and/or the UK.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex investment opportunities and manage risk effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Familiarity with Shariah-compliant investing principles is a plus.
