Distinct in Massachusetts is seeking an Audit Manager to lead client relationships and drive growth across not-for-profit and commercial audits. You will help shape the regional audit offering, mentor junior staff, and work with a broad client base spanning healthcare, real estate and professional services.
Join a privately held, ESOP-owned firm with a strong East Coast presence and a balanced work culture designed to support career growth and work-life balance.
Like the resources and backing of a larger firm, but don't want the politics, hours, or nonsense that can sometimes come with it?
You would be joining a nationally ranked advisory, tax and accounting firm with 550+ people, strong New England growth, and a proper not for profit practice. Big enough to have the resources, technology, brand and client base. Still human enough that people talk about work life balance without everyone quietly laughing into their coffee.
The firm is employee owned through an ESOP, privately funded, with no outside investors or private equity involved. So you are not walking into a place where the goal is to dress everything up for a sale in 18 months.
The role is focused on either not for profit audit clients or commericial audits depending on your experience. You would be joining at Manager level, helping grow the practice, develop client relationships and junior staff, and support in shaping what the New England audit offering looks like long term.
The client base is broad, with strong not for profit exposure alongside sectors like healthcare, construction, real estate, manufacturing, distribution, financial services and professional services.
Strong East Coast presence
Employee owned ESOP
No outside investors or private equity in the ESOP
Busy season usually around 48 to 55 hours
Summer Fridays, including 3pm finishes
23 days PTO
Medical, dental and vision
Life insurance contribution
CPE and leadership development
Dress For Your Day
DEI Council, Women’s Council and charitable initiatives
Wellness support, including gym discounts and CALM app
Genuine upward mobility and room to help build something
This would suit an audit leader who wants a stronger platform, better resources, and a clearer long term future, without moving into a firm where everyone is permanently exhausted and pretending it is character building.
Here’s the part most people get wrong: you don’t need to tick every box to introduce yourself. The apply button is not legally binding. Worst case? We chat, decide the timing isn’t right, and you carry on. Best case? You bag yourself a fantastic new position.
