Job summary

CapinCrouse, part of CRI, invites an Audit Intern for Spring 2027 to join our nonprofit audit team in Colorado Springs. You will perform substantive auditing procedures and document tests in working papers while learning about financial integrity and governance in mission‑focused organizations.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, have strong written and verbal communication, and can work independently or in a small team.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of university education completed by the start of the internship.
• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
• High degree of discretion with confidential information.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform substantive auditing procedures in assigned areas.
• Obtain an understanding of the work to be performed and its purpose.
• Prepare working papers that document the tests performed and procedures followed to substantiate conclusions.
• Ensure proper and consistent application of accounting principles when conducting audit procedures.
• Identify and document control deficiencies or other matters that warrant management attention.

Education

Two or more years of university education completed by the start of the internship

Bachelor’s degree pursuit in accounting

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)

High degree of discretion with confidential information

Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
