Job summary

Trident Consulting is seeking an Internal Audit Manager in the Bay Area, CA to support SOX testing programs and readiness workstreams. The role focuses on designing structure, governance, and templates for cross-functional initiatives across internal audit and AI pilots.

The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of audit/controls experience, strong documentation skills, and the ability to lead without owning day-to-day programs. Hybrid in-office presence in SFHQ is preferred.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in internal audit, SOX compliance, risk/controls, program management, or a chief-of-staff role supporting an audit, finance, or compliance function.
• Demonstrated ability to build structure and process from scratch in ambiguous, cross-functional environments.
• Comfort working across structured (SOX) and less-defined (AI initiatives, ad hoc projects) workstreams at the same time.
• Familiarity with SOX/COSO concepts and internal controls; direct SOX testing experience is a plus but not required if process/governance design experience is strong.

Responsibilities

• Structure & Governance for Key SOX Initiatives: identify high-priority initiatives and establish clear structure, process, and governance.
• Design intake, prioritization, and tracking for readiness pipeline entry and triage of system implementations or product launches.
• Develop templates, checklists, and RACI frameworks for reuse across initiatives.
• Establish lightweight reporting cadence for visibility without heavy overhead.
• Document processes and decisions to ensure repeatable governance.
