Job summary

H.T. Prof Executive Search is seeking an Audit Director specializing in State & Local Government in San Jose, CA. This direct hire role offers a hybrid work environment, path toward partnership, and relocation assistance.

The Director will manage multiple audit engagements, supervise staff, and build client relationships. They will lead engagement teams, review work papers, and contribute to business development while ensuring compliance with GAAS, Yellow Book, and firm policies.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' public accounting experience with at least 2 years in a senior manager role.
• Experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts).
• CPA license current and valid.
• Willingness to travel to client and firm locations.
• Ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients and leads engagement communications under partner guidance.
• Oversees all phases of engagements and ensures deliverables meet GAAP and firm policy.
• Supervises staff, trains team members, and reviews work papers and reports.
• Leads business development efforts and develops a network of client opportunities.
• Acts as liaison between partner, client, and staff and maintains client relationships.
