Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Audit Director for Government & Nonprofits in Irvine with hybrid work flexibility. The role leads engagements, guides staff, and ensures compliance with GAAS, GAGAS/Yellow Book, and Uniform Guidance.

You will build client relationships, win new business, and oversee delivery across state and local government audits. You should have about 10 years in public accounting, 2 years in a senior manager role, a CPA, and willingness to travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position, with significant experience in the public sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and a CPA license.
• Experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, charter schools).
• Ability to travel to client and office locations.
• Proven ability to win new business for a CPA firm.
• Experience conducting audits under GAAS, GAO standards, Yellow Book and Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client relationships and understand client operations and controls.
• Serve as engagement partner or report to the partner; sign attest opinions when needed.
• Oversee all phases of engagements and ensure compliance with accounting frameworks and firm policy.
• Communicate important developments and address issues with engagement partner.
• Schedule engagements and supervise staff; provide on‑the‑job training.
• Play a key role in staff performance reviews and career development.
• Participate in recruiting and business development; lead prospective client meetings.
