Job summary

Arriva Group is seeking an experienced head of operational compliance to lead the Compliance Team and manage day-to-day audits, supplier assurance, and regulatory compliance across rail and transportation services.

You will drive the audit programme, ensure CAPA closure, develop AI-assisted workflows and dashboards, and collaborate with Safety and Operations leaders to maintain ISO surveillance standards.

Qualifications

• Proven line management experience in a compliance/audit/ops team.
• Track record delivering an audit programme in a regulated industry.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001; lead auditor preferred.
• Strong supplier assurance and contract compliance understanding.
• Confident in findings management and CAPA tracking.
• Clear report writing for operational leadership.
• Daily use of AI tools for drafting narratives and MI commentary.
• Responsible AI use and data protection.
• Ability to wield Excel/Power Query and Power BI for dashboards.
• Ability to travel nationally for supplier audits.

Responsibilities

• Audit programme delivery: plan, schedule and deliver audits per risk-based cycle with evidence-ready standards.
• Quality assurance: QA compliance activities and supplier outputs; ensure documents are consistent and traceable.
• Line management of the compliance team: lead staff, set objectives, manage performance, 1:1s.
• Supplier assurance: manage relationships with audited suppliers; escalate material non-conformances.
• PSVAR and taxi/PHV compliance: oversee permits and vehicle/driver records.
• Findings closure and CAPA: maintain CAPA log and verify closures.
• Reporting cadence: produce weekly dashboards and monthly audit packs using AI for narrative and BI visuals.
• Audit readiness: support certifications during ISO surveillance audits with evidence base.
• Digital/AI uplift: pilot AI-assisted improvements to audit templates and MI narrative.
