Job summary

CLA is seeking an Audit Associate to join our State and Local Government (SLG) practice in our Southern New England offices. You will perform audits, support engagements, and help prepare financial statements for government clients while developing relationships with stakeholders.

BS in accounting or related field required; 1 year of experience preferred. CPA-eligible or CPA is a plus, with proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with government accounting standards across Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field is required
• 1 year of relevant experience preferred (internships may be acceptable)
• SLG industry experience is a plus
• CPA or eligible to sit for the CPA exam preferred
• General knowledge of accounting principles and/or regulations impacting financial reporting is required
• Understanding of internal software systems (Pfx Fixed Assets, Pfx Engagement, CCH Access Tax, XCM etc.) is required
• Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed audits, reviews, some compilations, and other assurance services for clients
• Support multiple client engagements of varying size and complexity, on time and within budget
• Complete assigned portions of engagements with consistency and accuracy
• Proactively interact with clients to gather information for timely wrap-up
• Audit complex areas/transactions and prepare financial statements and reports
• Collaborate with managers to ensure effective communication and service delivery
• Develop and maintain client relationships
