The ideal candidate has a degree in accounting, up to two years of auditing experience, and solid Excel skills. We emphasize professional development, work-life balance, and opportunities to advance within the firm.

Job Description:

As an Audit Staff Accountant at Sproles Woodard LLP, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality audit and assurance services to our clients across a variety of industries. You will work closely with experienced professionals to perform audit procedures, analyze financial information, and assist in the preparation of financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and performing financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for clients across various industries.
• Perform audit procedures, including testing account balances, examining supporting documentation, and evaluating internal controls.
• Prepare and maintain accurate audit workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with professional standards.
• Analyze financial statements and accounting records to identify discrepancies, risks, and areas for improvement.
• Assist in evaluating clients' accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
• Communicate with clients to request documentation, gather information, and address audit-related questions.
• Collaborate with senior auditors, managers, and partners to ensure engagements are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Stay current on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and relevant accounting regulations.
• Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities to strengthen technical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree or CPA certification is a plus).
• 0–2 years of experience in auditing or public accounting (internship experience considered).
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and auditing procedures.
• Familiarity with GAAP and GAAS is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience with audit software is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and meeting deadlines.
• Strong ethical standards, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
