Job summary

University of Texas at Dallas is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to plan, lead, and supervise audits, advisory engagements, investigations, and other special projects to support governance, risk management, and internal controls. Job Summary

The University of Texas at Dallas Audit and Advisory Services Department is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and strategic Audit Manager to join its team. In this role, you will plan, lead, and supervise audits, advisory engagements, investigations, and other special projects that support the University's commitment to effective governance, risk management, and internal controls.

As a member of a small audit department, the Audit Manager serves as both a strategic leader and a hands‑on contributor, exercising sound professional judgment while maintaining independence and objectivity. This position manages multiple engagements simultaneously, supervises audit staff and interns as assigned, and collaborates with stakeholders across the University to provide valuable insight and recommendations. The Audit Manager communicates engagement results and recommendations to management and governance bodies through the Chief Audit Executive ( CAE ) and performs other duties as assigned by audit leadership.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field. Six (6) total years of related professional experience, to include at least three (3) years of auditing experience. Three (3) years of related supervisory experience. Professional and supervisory experience will be counted concurrently. Position requires having and maintaining at least one of the following credentials Certified Public Accountant ( CPA ), Certified Internal Auditor ( CIA ), Certified Information Systems Auditor ( CISA ), or Certified Fraud Examiner ( CFE ). PREFERRED : Three (3) or more years of auditing experience in an institution of higher education, a state or federal agency, or a large professional services firm.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, perform, and manage riskbased assurance engagements in accordance with the Texas Internal Auditing Act, Global Internal Audit Standards, and internal audit departmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead audits with varying degrees of complexity, including financial, operational, compliance and other engagements.
  • Conduct engagementlevel risk assessments and develop or review audit programs.
  • Perform audit testing, evaluate internal controls, and document sufficient, reliable evidence.
  • Review workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with professional standards.
  • Draft audit reports and coordinate with management to confirm factual accuracy and obtain appropriate corrective action plans.
  • Perform followup procedures to assess implementation and effectiveness of agreedupon actions.
  • Escalate significant risks, control deficiencies, or governance concerns to the CAE in a timely manner.
Remote Work Notice

Remote Work Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
