Avidex is seeking an Audiovisual (AV) Project Engineer to support design, planning, implementation, and commissioning of AV/IT systems across corporate, healthcare, education, and enterprise environments.

You will collaborate with project managers, design teams, field engineers, and clients to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality goals while developing drawings, schedules, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in technology, engineering, or related field (bachelors preferred).
• 2+ years AV/IT design or engineering experience.
• Experience producing technical drawings for architectural or construction projects.
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting AV/IT systems.
• CTS certification or ability to obtain within six months; CTS-I/CTS-D preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Support AV/IT projects from design to commissioning and closeout.
• Develop drawings and documentation such as plans, elevations, diagrams, and equipment schedules.
• Collaborate with teams to define scope, requirements, schedules, resources, and risks.
• Assist with cost estimates, site surveys, bid reviews, take-offs, and submittals.
• Coordinate AV/IT needs with architectural, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and acoustics.
• Troubleshoot, test, and commission AV/IT systems with field teams.
• Serve as Project Lead on assigned projects and ensure client acceptance.
• Follow safety standards and site requirements.

Position Summary

The Audiovisual (AV) Project Engineer is a key member of the project team responsible for supporting the design, planning, implementation, and commissioning of audiovisual and IT systems. Working closely with project managers, design teams, field engineers, and other stakeholders, this role helps ensure projects are delivered within established scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

The Audiovisual (AV) Project Engineer provides technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including system design and documentation, estimating, troubleshooting, commissioning, and identification of technical requirements and risks.

What You'll Do

• Support AV/IT projects from system design and planning through commissioning and closeout.
• Develop technical drawings and documentation, including plans, elevations, diagrams, and equipment schedules.
• Collaborate with project teams to define scope, technical requirements, schedules, resource needs, and project risks.
• Support cost estimates, site surveys, bid reviews, take-offs, and technical submittals.
• Coordinate AV/IT requirements with architectural, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and acoustic considerations.
• Troubleshoot, test, and commission AV/IT systems in partnership with field and integration teams.
• Serve as Project Lead on assigned projects and support successful system completion and client acceptance.
• Follow applicable safety standards and project-site requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Associate degree in technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience; bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
• 2+ years of AV/IT design or engineering experience.
• Experience producing technical drawings and documentation for architectural or construction projects.
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting AV/IT systems.
• Knowledge of AV/IT installation practices, tools, test equipment, IBC, and NEC requirements.
• Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• AVIXA CTS certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire;
  • CTS-I or CTS-D preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Ability to travel to project sites, including occasional overnight travel, and work flexible hours as project needs require.
• Ability to perform work in construction and project-site environments, including standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and carrying equipment.
