Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as an Audiologist with our Audiology team at our Hyde Park - DCAM location. Here, you will work with our Inpatient Pediatric team. In this role, you will collaborate with the clinical team to provide the highest quality patient care. Our expert team is trained to treat everything from mild hearing loss to complex ear conditions. We are dedicated to excellence in ear and hearing healthcare, ongoing medical advancements, and education for the public and health professionals, setting standards for outstanding care.

Join our team at Hyde Park main hospital as an Inpatient Pediatric Audiologist, providing specialized care to infants in NICU and well-baby units. Responsibilities include diagnostic hearing screening, inpatient amplification fitting, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support early hearing detection and intervention.

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Audiology and Section Administrator, the Audiologist provides audiology services—consultation, evaluation, and therapy—in acute care and outpatient settings for patients with hearing and balance disorders. Responsibilities include patient care, administrative duties, and managing basic hearing needs efficiently.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Audiologic Evaluations:
  • Conduct audiology and vestibular testing.
  • Perform basic diagnostic evaluations of the peripheral auditory system, including pure-tone audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and vestibular evaluations.
  • Evaluate and interpret electrophysiologic tests like ABR and OAE.
  • Review test results, educate patients and families, and make referrals.
  • Communication/Reports:
    • Prepare written reports of test results and recommendations.
    • Discuss results with clinicians and patients, providing education and counseling.
    • Maintain documentation and participate in team meetings.
  • Other:
    • Complete billing and administrative tasks.
    • Participate in research studies and continuing education.
    • Provide patient education and follow-up.
    • Maintain clinic standards and participate in presentations.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Audiology (MS/MA) or Doctor of Audiology (AuD or PhD) from an accredited program.
    • Completion of ASHA or ABA certification.
    • Current or ability to obtain Illinois audiology licensure.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least 1 year of clinical experience, especially in adult vestibular evaluations.
