Primary Objective
Provide leadership in audio-visual setup for special events and performances, including management, care, and storage for sound, light and theatrical equipment for city sponsored activities, such as Arts in the Parks, Summer Fete, and private functions.
Examples of Duties
- Assist with set up and take down of large and small audio systems including: speakers, microphones, cables, mixers, movie equipment, staging, and more.
- Assist with set up, programming, running and taking down lighting equipment as needed.
- Actively prepare and plan for events by following directions from Audio/Visual Coordinator relating to sound and stage needs with various performance groups and events.
- Provide input on repair and upkeep needs of sound and lighting equipment, as well as other equipment
- Attend all trainings and meetings
- Assist with transportation and return of equipment to various locations
- Assist in various capacities to carry out functions of special events as needed and assigned
- Represent the City of Bloomington in a positive and professional manner at all times
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
- Two years experience working with sound and/or lighting equipment
- Ability to provide physical assistance with stage and equipment set up
- Interest in working in the cultural arts
- Valid MN Driver's License and the ability to transport equipment as needed, to and from locations
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends.
Desired Qualifications
- Five or more years experience working with A/V equipment in a live sound environment
- Additional experience working in a variety of settings or special events
- Recreational programming experience
Supplemental Information
Position to begin late May, but there is some flexibility in starting date. Job duties to take place at Bloomington Civic Plaza, the Normandale Lake Bandshell, and other venues throughout Bloomington

Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions. In addition,
Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
