Summary of Position

Howard Technology Solutions, part of Howard Industries, is a growing provider of technology solutions for education, government, and commercial markets. We seek a motivated, organized AV Technician with good communication skills, knowledge of AV standards, signal flow, troubleshooting, and experience in installing and testing custom AV systems.

AV Technician Responsibilities

• Review project documentation and consult with project managers to understand installation requirements.
• Install AV equipment such as displays, projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, control systems, and racks following industry best practices.
• Provide on-site service for installed AV systems.
• Verify delivery of gear to the job site.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and project management.
• Lead subcontractors on-site.
• Support off-site programming resources as needed.
• Update Project Manager on installation progress.

Position Requirements

• Experience with installing, testing, and commissioning AV systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve system issues.
• Knowledge of signal flow, cabling, connectors, and terminations.
• Ability to read schematics and documentation.
• Willingness to travel within territories and possibly overnight; reliable transportation needed.
• Familiarity with brands like Crestron, Extron, Epson, Samsung, Vaddio, AMX, Biamp, and DaLite.

Physical Requirements

• Climb ladders.
• Lift at least 40 lbs.
• Work at heights up to 60 feet.
• Travel within designated territory.
• Install using man-lifts.

Skills and Qualifications

• At least 1 year of commercial AV experience preferred.
• Experience installing and commissioning AV systems.
• Understanding of systems integration techniques.
• Basic IP networking knowledge.
• CTS is preferred; CTS-I must be obtained within 24 months.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
