Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Audio Production Engineer to join Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) on the UT Main Campus. This fixed-term role supports field and studio productions, upskills student engineers, and collaborates with staff to meet project goals.

Responsibilities include recording, mixing, and editing across field and studio settings, plus training staff and reporting on projects. Immediate start; replace-to-Aug 31, 2028.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in radio, television or film productions with a Bachelor's Degree, or 5 years’ experience with a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Strong knowledge of Audio DAWs and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
  • Strong knowledge of audio field equipment, including mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, and peripherals.
  • Project management experience in setting goals, supervising projects, making deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Record, mix, edit and work on productions with audio needs in the field, in studios and in coordination with other LAITS crews.
  • Coordinate with LAITS project and studio staff to understand requirements and advise on achieving production goals.
  • Work autonomously and efficiently on multiple projects in pre-production, post-production and production settings.
  • Provide training and feedback on productions to staff, including student employees.
  • Create and communicate reports on projects and staff.
  • Work with clients to understand project needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
