You will own the audience-growth plan, turning Substack into a scalable engine for acquisition and engagement, while preserving editorial credibility. You will collaborate across editorial, product, marketing, analytics and finance to build franchises, test distribution channels, and grow readers toward paid subscriptions, with a focus on measurable results

Qualifications

• Significant experience in audience development, newsletter growth or digital publishing.
• Demonstrated ability to grow an audience on Substack or similar platform.
• Strong editorial judgment and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Own the Free Expression growth strategy from plan to cadence for reader acquisition and retention.
• Turn Substack into a scalable engine for acquisition and engagement.
• Partner with editors, product, marketing, analytics and finance to tie audience gains to subscriptions.
