Job summary

Society for Science & the Public’s Science News Media Group seeks an innovative Social Media Producer to help build new audiences for our science journalism. This role develops social content from coverage, and executes strategies across Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Reddit, YouTube and TikTok.

The position collaborates with the digital team, newsroom and design to grow audiences and advance digital initiatives, including weekly newsletters, while maintaining the Society’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing social media feeds.
• Excellent copy-writing/editing skills for social media.
• Knowledge of WordPress.

Responsibilities

• Create daily social media content in collaboration with the digital team and newsroom.
• Schedule content using platforms like Hootsuite.
• Collaborate with Design to ensure visuals promote the brand.
• Monitor and engage with readers on social platforms.
• Develop strategies to increase engagement with followers.
• Produce newsletters and test new products.
• Identify trending stories with science lens.
