Job summary

POLITICO is seeking a senior editor and producer to lead our North American social media efforts, expanding reach across formats and platforms. You will help scale our social channels’ impact and partner with newsroom leaders to drive business goals.

The Supervising Editor will manage a DC-based team of social producers, set strategic direction, and drive innovation in storytelling and audience growth. Experience guiding newsroom workflows and data-informed decisions is essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in social media, newsroom experience required.
• Experience testing theories and measuring success with data.
• Strong writing skills with headline and copy craft.
• Excellent news judgment for breaking fast-moving scenarios.
• Experience with social video is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage our social accounts, social team and schedule (holidays, weekends etc.).
• Develop best practices for each platform, driving audiences back to our site.
• Create social strategies and playbooks for breaking news and policy coverage.
• Train newsroom leaders, reporters and producers on social best practices.
• Work with product & tech teams to identify and implement social workflow improvements.
• Share insights with data and audience teams regularly.
• Participate in daily coverage planning and represent audience needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze audience data and trends.
• Maintain off-platform standards and journalistic independence.
• Identify opportunities to improve content creation, delivery, and engagement using data.
