Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational support of arcade games and attractions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ensure safety, efficiency, and availability of rides in line with manufacturer and ASTM/OSHA/local standards.
  • Propose policies to improve safety, ride availability, and efficiency.
  • Perform daily to annual ride inspections and document maintenance in logs.
  • Communicate status, inventory, compliance, and issues to management.

AREA15 is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical to assist in the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of AREA15’s amusement rides, arcade games, and attractions. This position is responsible for documenting and performing maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, ASTM requirements, and applicable local regulations. This position will also require knowledge/experience in regulatory inspections, repairs, schematic and blueprint reading, inventory upkeep, and always maintaining proper communication with management. This position invites new innovative ideas and concepts pertaining to the maintenance field of all our attractions, including the ability to research the idea/concept, provide pros and cons, and present recommendations to management. This position will perform both short and long-term projects following management directives while abiding by all ride compliances with applicable ASTM and local regulations. This position will also be cross trained to assist with other maintenance duties in other disciplines including troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, motor-driven, and PLC-controlled systems associated with rides and attractions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational support of arcade games and interactive attractions to ensure optimal functionality and guest satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical assemblies, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electric motors, sensors, PLC-controlled equipment, and ride control systems associated with rides and attractions.
  • Ensures the ongoing safety, efficiency, and availability of amusement rides and devices at the facility in accordance with manufacturer requirements and all applicable ASTM, OSHA, state, and local regulatory standards.
  • Suggest new departmental policies and procedures on an ongoing basis, making specific recommendations to improve safety, ride availability, operational efficiency, preventative maintenance practices, and departmental performance.
  • Ensure to work safely and in compliance with all local laws, work rules, and best practice guidelines while promoting a proactive safety-first culture throughout the department.
  • Adhere to all safety protocalls at all times and report any abnormalities to the supervisor or manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform ride repairs, ride maintenance, and ride rehabilitation functions accurately and timely within the division while minimizing downtime and maintaining guest experience standards.
  • Perform, document, and maintain the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual ride inspections as directed using proper maintenance management systems, logs, and reporting procedures.
  • Perform regulatory housekeeping and cleaning requests timely and report any abnormalities or potential safety concerns immediately to leadership.
  • Communicate any and all department status’, inventory, record keeping, compliance issues, wear tolerance specifications to management on an ongoing basis, including any other ride maintenance issues, employee concerns, guest complaints, special requests, and any other unusual occurrences or situations to maintain optimal department performance and ensure continuous operational readiness.
  • Abide by all AREA15 policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment while maintaining professionalism and collaboration across all departments.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on operational needs, special projects, and cross-functional maintenance support initiatives.

  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, polished appearance in line with AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Position Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older

  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Experience with amusement rides, arcade games, interactive attractions, or entertainment equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer documentation preferred.
  • Knowledge of amusement industry standards and practices including ASTM F2291, F1193, and F770 preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial, amusement, facilities, or mechanical maintenance environments involving electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical/motor, chassis, carriage, hoist, rigging, and related systems.
  • Willingness to learn, contribute, and thrive in an evolving, multi-disciplined, diverse technical team.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Certified and/or ability to be certified to operate boom and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 200 ft.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. Ability to learn, adapt, and self-manage when necessary.
  • Self-starter with strong motivation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, motor-driven, and electrical systems with working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications. (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, extreme cold.
