Job summary

DM Injury Law in Kansas City, MO, is expanding its personal injury team with opportunities for established trial attorneys. Represent clients in workers' compensation matters from opening to resolution, while guiding non-attorney staff to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Proactively communicate with clients to provide updates and claim status throughout their matter.
• Interact and negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of clients.
• Draft case materials, correspondence, pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
• Ensure accuracy of all documents prepared by you and your team.
• Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Provide direction and supervision to non-attorney staff in compliance with all workers' compensation laws and regulations.

Compensation: $115,000 – $170,000 (Base + Quarterly Performance Bonus) High performers regularly earn above this range, and total compensation has no ceiling.

Origination Bonus — Paid on Every Case You Bring In Refer a case to the firm and earn one-third of the firm's fee at resolution, on top of your regular compensation. Most firms reserve this for partners. We offer it to every attorney, starting on day one.

This role is based in our Kansas City office. You'll handle all aspects of representing clients in their workers' compensation matters — from the moment a case opens through resolution — while providing direction and supervision to non-attorney staff to ensure full compliance with workers' compensation laws, regulations, and labor codes.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Required

• Eligibility to obtain an Kansas Bar license (UBE score or reciprocity)
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, SharePoint)
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred

• At least one year of workers' compensation experience (strong candidates with relevant litigation background will also be considered)
