Job description

This non-exempt position supports the Attorney Development (AD) department in all efforts relating to attorney training and development Firm-wide. Responsibilities include administering attorney review and feedback processes; supporting training and development programs; maintaining attorney development data and reports; coordinating and facilitating CLE; and assisting with special projects that advance attorney growth from onboarding through promotion.

Essential Duties
Programs & Training
  • Act as the administrative lead for multi-part attorney training programs. Duties include scheduling, invitations, management of technology, liaising with local office support on logistical details, preparing materials, etc.
  • Assist section-specific training leaders and the AD department in tracking each attorney’s training and development against established learning paths and benchmarks.
  • Coordination of Firm-wide CLE and training programs, including creating announcements and invitations, tracking RSVPs, room reservations, food/refreshments, set-up, technology and logistics, sign-in/sign-out procedures, troubleshooting and post-program follow-up and evaluation.
  • Obtain CLE credit for all appropriate jurisdictions for training programs and other development initiatives. Maintain the Firm's CLE records and maintain and utilize Micron, the Firm’s CLE-tracking software, to ensure individual attorney CLE records are accurate and current.
Talent Development
  • Maintain and utilize performance management software platforms for tasks related to talent management, including creation of the mid-year and year-end review processes, goal-setting documents, editing of composites and other review-related documents and processes for attorneys.
  • Coordinate and administer attorney performance and feedback processes, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, year-end reviews, promotion and partnership-related evaluations, and other development checkpoints.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential attorney development data and generate reports regarding reviews, training participation, workload, mentoring, and other talent metrics.
  • Coordinate partner-level review meetings twice yearly, including logistical coordination among schedules, room availability, and other constraints.
  • Assist with work allocation surveys, including responses, reports to partners, and tracking. Collaborate with the Director on staffing matters to (a) ensure that associates are fully utilized, have opportunities to work on a variety of matters with different partners, and achieve progress toward their development goals and (b) identify available attorneys to be staffed on matters with the requisite skill set for a given assignment.
  • Work on special department or Firm projects as needed.
Reporting Relationship

The AD Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Manager of Attorney Development or another designated Attorney Development leader. This position does not have any direct reports.

Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience

The Attorney Development Coordinator should possess at least one year of experience in training and development. Experience within the legal or professional services industry is preferred.

Skills
  • The AD Coordinator must possess strong knowledge with the Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Experience with Micron CLE is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with CLE rules, in particular Texas MCLE, is preferred.
  • This person must communicate effectively with attorneys, Firm Leadership and professional staff at all levels and demonstrate excellent writing, presentation, project management, organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • This individual plays a vital role in promoting and coordinating attorney training programs and development efforts and must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision and provide responsive client service.
Education

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field, including but not limited to, professional development/training, communications, management, business management, or organizational development is preferred.

Physical Demands

Position remains stationary at least 85% of the time. This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the AD department as well as Firm attorneys. This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time.

Working Conditions

Office environment. Occasional overtime required.
