Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking an Attendance and Engagement Champion to monitor and analyze school attendance data and develop attendance support plans for students and families, focusing on chronic absenteeism. The role collaborates with MTSS teams and school administration to ensure attendance support is delivered with fidelity.

The position involves data collection, plan development, and daily monitoring aligned with the district's Conditions Goals, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Applications.
• Prior work experience in a school setting preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish Speaker preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure actions align with Board policies and school mission/goals.
• Collect and analyze attendance data (attendance, tardies, chronic absenteeism).
• Support schools in creating Tier 1 attendance resources.
• Provide data to MTSS teams for early identification of at-risk students.
• Develop Attendance Success Plans with chronically absent students.
• Maintain attendance intervention caseloads on 6-8 week cycles with weekly follow-ups.
• Coordinate with families to remove barriers to attendance.
• Refer students with excessive tardiness/truancy to appropriate staff or community resources.
• Network with community agencies to strengthen school-family-community links.
• Conduct home visits as per district guidelines.
• Consult MTSS teams regularly.
• Participate in training to enhance job performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
