Job summary

Urbana School District #116 in Urbana, IL is seeking a Student Engagement Attendance Advocate (SEA A) at Urbana High School to identify truant students, communicate with families, provide interventions, and connect students with supports.

Under limited supervision, you will collaborate with case managers, monitor progress, and keep detailed records while engaging students during arrivals and transitions to promote regular attendance and academic improvement.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children, young adults, their families, and educational staff.
• Knowledge of and ability to keep records in organized systems.
• Knowledge of and ability to work with computers and software (e.g. word processing, email, spreadsheets).
• Ability to work with economically disadvantaged children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings with supervisor and staff.
• Review attendance reports to identify truancy or at-risk students.
• Collaborate with case managers on IEP/504 plans.
• Provide individualized interventions for targeted students.
• Provide small group interventions for targeted students.
• Maintain documentation of interventions weekly.
• Engage students during arrival, transitions, and departure.
• Maintain open communication with teachers and other support staff.
• Make home visits and encourage parental involvement.
• Refer families to district and community resources.
• Advocate for students' educational interests.
• Attend SEA monthly meetings.
• Contribute to a positive school climate.
