Job summary

Norwich Public Schools’ Kelly Magnet Middle School is seeking a Part-Time Attendance & Engagement Coordinator to support attendance initiatives, engage families, and monitor participation.

You will collaborate with administrators, deans, and community partners to reduce chronic absenteeism, conduct outreach, and help run incentive programs.

The role is 10 months, with a 7:30–12:30 schedule, 190 days, starting immediately; prior experience with students and data management is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, families, schools, or community organizations.
• Ability to establish positive, productive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency in data management, documentation, and computer applications.
• Strong organizational and presentation skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with building administrators and attendance teams to develop and implement strategies that improve student attendance and punctuality.
• Coordinate with Deans to implement attendance plans and support preventive measures related to daily attendance.
• Conduct outreach to students and families experiencing attendance concerns through calls, home visits, conferences, and other engagement efforts.
• Support development and implementation of attendance incentive programs and recognition initiatives.
• Participate in strength-based conferences to address attendance barriers and celebrate student progress.
• Monitor attendance trends and identify students at risk of chronic absenteeism.
• Assist schools in establishing and monitoring attendance goals, including targets for average daily attendance and chronic absenteeism reduction.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance interventions and family contacts.
