Job summary

CenterPointe Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Board Certified Art Therapist ATR-BC to join the behavioral health team.

You will plan, direct and implement activity therapy as part of the patient’s treatment plan, lead sessions, assess needs, and help patients build skills for independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in art, dance, or music therapy is valued.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessments through observation and interviews to inform treatment plans.
• Plan, direct and implement activities to support treatment goals.
• Lead therapy sessions including therapeutic leisure skills and activities.
• Instruct patients in activities such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques.
• Develop and implement interventions that meet patient needs and goals.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and social skills development.
• Adapt activities for different groups; maintain patient safety and professionalism.
