The position involves planning and directing activity therapy as part of the patient’s treatment plan, collaborating with a supportive clinical team, and helping patients heal, grow, and thrive through art-based interventions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting.
• CTRS or related expressive therapy certification OR clinical licensure required.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required; first aid may be required.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through observation and interviews to tailor treatment plans.
• Plan, direct and implement activities within the program to progress treatment goals.
• Plan and implement an activities program including therapeutic leisure skills and education.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities such as sports, dance, music or relaxation techniques.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions aligned with patient needs and goals.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and help develop social skills.
• Modify activities to suit different groups and maintain professionalism.
