Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
• CTR S or equivalent certification or licensure with expressive therapy certification required.
• Clinical licensure (LCPC, LPC) with expressive therapy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and interview for treatment planning.
• Plan and implement activities within the treatment program to progress toward goals.
• Lead therapeutic sessions in sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions meeting patient needs and goals.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and social skills development.
• Modify activities to suit different groups and ensure safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Healthcare recreation experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
